After almost fifty years in the hands of one family, the house was ready for a new generation. Beneath its tired interiors lay a much-loved home with a beautiful garden and Victorian glasshouse, but it no longer reflected the way our clients wanted to live. With three growing children, they needed a home that could balance family togetherness with increasing independence while bringing more light, space and ease into everyday life.

THE approachDesigned Around Life
The design centred on bringing more light, warmth and flexibility into everyday living. A folded roof to the rear extension emerged from rationalising the new first-floor addition while carefully tracking the movement of the sun, capturing natural light where it mattered most, from the dining table and kitchen to moments spent enjoying views of the garden. Reclaimed timber flooring, a solid timber kitchen and a palette of natural materials introduced warmth, texture and a strong connection to the landscape beyond.
THE transformationRoom To Grow
Today, the house feels calm, uplifting and deeply connected to its garden setting. Spaces flow naturally between shared family life and quieter moments of retreat, creating a home that supports both togetherness and independence. The result is a warm and welcoming family home designed not only for how its owners live today, but for how they will live in the years ahead.
